PORTAL represents a journey from photography to sculpture, as well as an an experiment in fusing two very different mediums. I photographed a farmhouse door in Japan. The yellow paint was peeling away in the wind. It felt like a haiku poem. I wanted to capture the feeling of transitioning from one world to another.
Printed on high quality outdoor vinyl, attached to a roll formed stainless steel panel on the front with a powder coated black panel attached. The back of the installation is a roll formed cortex steel panel. Both front and back panels are attached to a mild steel internal framework with a corten steel frame.
