ROMAN SUN
A moment of serendipity: the early morning sun looks like a ripe fruit against the deep orange pigments of a courtyard wall.
FACE OFF
It’s impossible not to let fantasy rip when you start looking closely at multi-layered surfaces, especially on the walls of Rome with its many levels of wonderfully exposed paint.
THE ROAD TAKEN
The Road Taken was the title for a one-man show I was given at the Freight & Volume gallery in NYC and this was the cover picture used for the catalogue. The photo was taken in Manhattan.
YELLOW BENCH & SNOW
Outside the Children’s Museum of Manhattan on 83rd Street after a heavy snowstorm, everything is white except for this bright yellow bench and the joyous path to its entrance.
BRUSHSTROKES
A colorful street in Guanajuato, Mexico, childhood home of the famous painter Diego Rivera.
Look closely and you’ll notice that the brown stripe at the bottom of the frame is a raised walkway.
VANISHING MALIBU
Where there were rocks, today there is sand; where sand yesterday, now uncovered rocks
From ‘Ashes’ by Paula Meehan.
This picture and text is from my book of the same name.
RUST
The marvelous metamorphosis of mild steel when left to rust in the open air.
